Stay

Life is like a circus wheel

And I never know how to feel

Still living in the way back then

You know I never meant to hurt you or to lose a friend

But time’s gone by like a runaway train

And it’s never coming back again

Did you think I’d stay after all you made me out to be?

You’re just looking at me

But I was meant to be free

Did you think I’d stay?

Well you should turn the other way

It’s never coming back again

You can stay in the past and you can live a lie

Say I’ve changed, call me cold, call me what you like

You’ll never know what it’s like on the other side

And why are you looking at me?

It’s not what you want, it’s not what I need

All you did was stay

And say I’m wrong, say I’m wicked, say I’m senseless in my ways

So did you think I’d stay?

I remember you like it was yesterday

The walks, the talks, the hugs and the glass jar lights

The tears, the screams, the insults and the fights

You can stay and you can live a lie

Say I’ve changed, call me cold, call me what you like

But time’s gone by on a runaway train

And we’re never going back again

You got so relentless with your words like knives

And honey, the worst is you’ll never comprehend how wrong you are to think what you say and do to people is alright

So you can stay and you can live a lie

Say I’ve changed, call me cold, call me what you like

But we’re never going back again

  1. The road of time goes but one way. When it forks and one goes one way and the other the other way, there is parting. So too when one takes the upward path to grow and one stays behind. Blame and curses fly when one refuses to be the punching bag, but they no longer have a place to land and fall useless and harmless on the ground. Let the one who spews them swallow their own bile. You need to taste it no longer. It was never yours, only theirs.

      1. Thanks. I’ve had to do it too. You are not alone. “Happy Valentines Day” doesn’t quite seem to fit the mood, but there it is anyway, not romance, but still from one of the many friends who love you as you really are.
